Canadian Door Stop Challenge

Calling All Marquetarians across the country!

We’ve put together a small challenge for members. If you’re not a member consider becoming one so you too can enter this challenge! Please email us at marquetrysociety.ca@gmail.com. Membership is $60. We would love to see entries from across our fair land- we know you’re out there!!!

The Challenge Rules:

Door stop substrate must remain the size you are given, we have substrates cut that we will happily courier (free of charge) to you if you’re not a regular attendee.

1 challenge entry per member

Substrate must be fully covered in veneer on all 4 sides, bottom may be a different material if you wish, so it sticks to the floor, rather than slides- we want it to be useful!

Marquetry/ Parquetry design must be present on the top.

Members own choice to put design on the sides too, or cover with plain veneer.

Natural and dyed veneers allowed

Judging:

Will take place by members at the annual May Social & Competition in southern Ontario. Location TBD

1 Entry per member

2 classes: Experienced and Beginner (those new to trying the craft in the last 2 years)

Prizes for the top 3 entries in both classes

Members may send the door stop ahead, at their expense, if they can’t personally attend the May Social. We will courier them back to you at our expense.
