DESCRIPTION:Wonders of Wood Show & Competition is in it’s 42nd year! \nThis year the show will include: wood carving\, pyrography ( wood burning)\, marquetry\, wood turning\, competitions\, exhibits\, demonstrations and supplies & a silent auction. There is a very nice cafe on site and ample parking. \nThe Marquetry Society will be set up there!!! \nThe show runs Saturday 10am-5pm\, Sunday 11am-4pm. \nCompetition details are on the Niagara Woodcarvers site Including the forms and fees. ENTER YOUR WORK- whether or not you win\, you enhance the show!!!

Bring your own marquetry projects to work on in a social setting 1pm-4pm\, or continue from the morning workshop. This month we will bring a dollar store box to cover from 10am-12:30. Members bring your brown bag lunch and a short business meeting will follow. \nWant to try out marquetry for the first time? 10:30am-12:30pm we host a free beginners workshop. SUMMARY:Canadian Door Stop Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Calling All Marquetarians across the country! \nWe’ve put together a small challenge for members. If you’re not a member consider becoming one so you too can enter this challenge! Please email us at marquetrysociety.ca@gmail.com. Membership is $60. We would love to see entries from across our fair land- we know you’re out there!!! \nThe Challenge Rules: \nDoor stop substrate must remain the size you are given\, we have substrates cut that we will happily courier (free of charge) to you if you’re not a regular attendee. \n1 challenge entry per member \nSubstrate must be fully covered in veneer on all 4 sides\, bottom may be a different material if you wish\, so it sticks to the floor\, rather than slides- we want it to be useful! \nMarquetry/ Parquetry design must be present on the top. \nMembers own choice to put design on the sides too\, or cover with plain veneer. \nNatural and dyed veneers allowed \n  \nJudging: \nWill take place by members at the annual May Social & Competition in southern Ontario. Location TBD \n1 Entry per member \n2 classes: Experienced and Beginner (those new to trying the craft in the last 2 years) \nPrizes for the top 3 entries in both classes \nMembers may send the door stop ahead\, at their expense\, if they can’t personally attend the May Social. We will courier them back to you at our expense. \nGIVE THE CHALLENGE A TRY- WHETHER YOU WIN OR NOT SEEING EVERYONE’S CREATIVE IDEAS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT- AND MORE INSPIRATION FOR US ALL! \n
